the theme 

For many LGBTQ+ people their queer identity directly impacts their perception of, and connection with, home. From the homes we were raised in, to the homes we create for ourselves, queer people have a unique relationship with the concept of home. Despite this theme being common in conversations between LGBTQ+ people, there is little literature collated exploring queer people's reflections on, perceptions of, and connections with home.

the idea 

To collect contributions from LGBTQ+ writers each reflecting on their perceptions of, and connection with, home. The intention is that some of these contributions will then be collated to create a new book. The book will help LGBTQ+ people to reflect on their own relationship with home by sharing the stories and experiences of other queer people. Most importantly, if the book is published I hope that some of the profits from the sales of the book will go to charities that directly support LGBTQ+ homeless people in the United Kingdom. 

the brief  

If you're interested in contributing to this project, here is what you need to know - 

1. All contributions must be written by a person who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community. 

2. All contributions must be exploring reflections on, perceptions of, or connections with the theme of home.

3. Contributions can take any form: poetry, prose, short stories, scripts, diaries, letters, or other. There is no minimum length, but there is a flexible word limit of around 1500 words per contribution. 

the process 

This project is in a very early stage and there is currently no set timeframe - a deadline will likely be added to this page shortly. It is possibe that the idea will develop and change as the project continues, but for now the intended process is - 

1. If you are interested in being involved, use the links at the bottom of this page to express an interest in the project, to ask any questions, or to contribute a piece or idea to be considered. 

2. When the submission window closes, a selection process will take place and the writers of the chosen pieces will be contacted with further information (please note, it will not be possible to use all contributions, but all contributors will be contacted to let them know if their piece will be used or not). 

3. When all contributors and contributions are finalised, the intention is to collate them to create a new book. If published, I hope that some of the profits made from the sales of the book will go to charities who directly support LGBTQ+ homeless people in the UK.
